In these days, it's becoming increasingly difficult to make ends meet with just one source of income. Thus, more and more people are investigating the possibilities of starting their own work from home extra-income business. Most of these part-time endeavors are started and operated from the comfort and privacy of the home.
Many of these people are making the extra money they need. Some have wisely and carefully built these extra income efforts into full-time, very profitable businesses. Others are just keeping busy, having fun, and enjoying life as never before. The important thing is that they are doing something other than waiting for the government to give them a handout; they are improving their lot in life, and you can do it, too!
Just a note before I go on. First, too many people expect that from the moment they start a business from home that they are going to make lots of money – not so. Sometimes it can take a while, sometimes more than a year before you realize any profit. Two, there are a lot of scams out there, see how much you can make with us. Stop falling for them. Stop wasting your time and money and just put in the time into a real business to bring in an extra income.

If you can type, you can start a home-based typing service. If you have a truck or a trailer, you can start a clean-up/hauling service. Collecting old news papers from your neighbors can get you started in the paper recycling business. More than a few enterprising housewives have found success and fortune by starting home or apartment cleaning service. If you have a yard full of flowers, you can make extra money by supplying fresh cut flowers to restaurants and offices in your area on a regular basis. You could turn a ceramics hobby into a personalized coffee mug business.
What I'm saying is that, there's literally no end to the ways you can start and operate a profitable extra income business from your home. The first thing you have to do is some basic market research. Find out just how many people there are in your area who could be interested in your proposed product or service.
If after checking around you get the idea that these people would be paying customers, your next effort should be directed toward a business plan. It can start out very simple but the more precise and detailed it is the easier it's going to be for you to attain success. If all you want to do is run a small home based business, you can get away with just the basics of a business plan.
Having A Plan
With a business plan, whether simple or detailed, tt pays to lay it all out on paper before you start, and the clearer you will see everything, and the better your chances for success.
Here is the most important "secret" of all to starting and building a profitable home-based business. Regardless of what kind of business you start, you must have the capital (money up front) and the time to sustain your business through the first six months, to a year, of operation.
You cannot count on spending any money coming into the business on yourself or for your personal bills during those first six to twelve months. All the income from your business during those first months should be reinvested in your business in order for it to grow and reach your planned potential.
Once you've passed that milestone, you can set up a small monthly salary for yourself, and begin enjoying the fruits of your labor. But the first several months or operation for any business are critical, so do not plan to use any of the money which your business generates for yourself.
Starting a successful business is not a means towards either a job for yourself or a way to keep busy. It should be regarded as the beginning of an enterprise that will grow and prosper. Eventually, you could have other people doing all the work for you, even running the entire operation, while you’re on vacation receiving a regular income.

I see so many people reaching for riches only to be scammed. People are greedy and that is why they get taken advantage of. People are no longer interested in working at something to make it happen, they want it all now. Right now. Instant money. Instant income. Instant millions.
People have become lazy. They want people to do everything for them to make them millions of dollars, or tell them how to do it without working at it. That's why people buy into programs that promise to build them a website or business and all they have to do it sit back and collect the money. Right, like that works.

It may not take as long for you, but it does take time, it doesn't happen overnight. Let go of the idea you will become rich overnight, in a week or even this year. It doesn't happen like that.
The odds are not in your favor as the majority of people will only make a side-income when they first start. Later, as they build trust with potential customers will they make enough to quit your full-time job. If you work at it, you may be lucky enough to realize your dream of owning your own business, but it takes work.

Far too many people look to the Internet to make their income believing that with all the millions of people online they can't fail. Yeah, right.
Let me not discourage you, but it takes a lot of work to reach those millions of Internet surfers. Why not instead stick closer to home. Find a small businesses in your area with which you can partner up with.
By supporting each other, both of your businesses will support your local economy which keeps it stable and less susceptible to the ups and downs of businesses dependent on worldwide customers, which are more fickle.
By cultivating a local following you actually get to know your customers and they will be more willing to support your business. Creating a friendly atmosphere will create lasting friendships with your customers.
