Christian Based Business Opportunities
Your faith is a vital part of who you are, so why not make it part of your entrepreneurial life. So, what Faith Based business opportunities exist?
Like many people, you would love to work from home, either to be with your children or for the flexibility it gives you, and lets not mention the tax advantages. You would also like to make money in an honorable way which gives back to your community. A Christian based business can help you accomplish both of these requirements.
Just as it goes with any other business, proper research and planning is critical. Be sure the type of business you are pursuing is one you have the skills for and that you will enjoy. Also, be sure that there is a market for your business. Be thorough in checking out the competition and identifying potential roadblocks. Through planning, hard work and faith, you can find a Christian based business opportunity that will bring you the monetary and spiritual success.
There’s More Than One Path
While this article talks about Christian based business ideas, these same concepts can be applied to all faiths – Buddhism, Jain, Pagan, Muslim, Hindu, Native American, Bahai, Wiccan, and the many others which exist. That said, remember to be always respectful of other people’s religious beliefs and spiritual practices. No one likes a pushy religious person who thinks they know best. Instead approach all situations on Spiritual terms keeping religion out of your encounters. Let the customer make the first move before jumping in and offering anything religious.
So, what is Spirituality without religion? It is what ties all religions together. Being loving, kind, happy, helpful, giving can all be considered spiritual practices, after all, doesn’t the Bible say in its Commandments: Love thy neighbor – an unconditional love, it has no conditions, ands, ifs, or buts it just asks us to ‘Love’ everyone (all neighbors). It is with this approach you should go forth and not lead with the attitude that your faith, religion, is best and all others are not.
If you want to remain in business you will need to decide if your focus and marketing will be narrowly focused toward Christian’s only and possibly face the fact you will never grow your business beyond a certain point or you open up and be more Spiritual and less religious. I’m not saying you have to give up your religion, just don’t lead with it emblazoned on your chest as if there is nothing else in the world. This is also true with all religions.
Ok, enough of that, I think you get the idea.
An important idea here is that we understand that religion is an integral part of your life. A lot of successful small business owners have found ways to weave their faith and spirituality into their businesses without making it a central point.
Two Ways To Think About Christian Businesses
One way is that any type of business owned by a Christian is a Christian business. Whether it's a plumbing business or a photography studio, while the emphasis may not be on religion, the expectation is that the owner will be honest and conduct his business in concert with Christian principles.
Another way is that a Christian business is one that is created for other Christians. Because of the principles of religious and moral integrity, people may consider a Christian-based business as something they want to support.
As a Christian business owner, you may get customers simply because of your faith. On the other hand, some customers may be wary because they are afraid they will receive a sermon while they do business with you. You have to decide, either lead with your religion or allow your religion lead you in your business dealings. As always it is with any business, if your products and services are appealing enough, with the right approach you can give even a prodigal customer a positive experience.
