Republicans in Office Like Their Healthcare, While the People Who Voted For Them Go Without

Two and a half trillion dollars is spent in healthcare every year. Most is wasted or provides minimal care. Here in the U.S. we have the highest infant mortality of any industrialized nation. Not only that, we have the worst end life care, mental healthcare which is Not covered under many insurance policies, long-term care, preventive care (not diagnostics) and the highest number of people who go without any kind of healthcare whatsoever because they can't afford it out of all industrialized nations. That’s sad.

Orrin Hatch, who enjoys great medical benefits under a government plan which is paid for by taxpayers, has it half right. He excludes from the 46 million without healthcare coverage those who may qualify under some type of coverage, public or private, lowering that number of uninsured. A trick! Reality is, they are still without insurance! He never claims they have insurance, he just subtracts people who may qualify under an insurance plan making the number of uninsured seem less. Liar! The number of uninsured is the number of uninsured. Orrin Hatch, you math is funny and false!

He is not the only Republican who skirts the truth. Of late, republicans have been going around claiming a public healthcare plan would kill off retired people (older people). They claim illegals would also be covered. All liars! No one is killing anyone! I also wonder what illegals in this country are doing now for healthcare? How are they getting healthcare currently and in the past? Guess someone forgot to tell the republicans we the taxpayer are picking up the tab, and have been.

Some numbers: (people under various insurance plans)

  • Medicare – 43%
  • Medicaid – 18%
  • Veterans – 5% to 10%
  • Government Employees – 10% to 15%
  • Uninsured – 12% to 16% (which the taxpayer pays)
  • Only 37% are privately insured

Why do the numbers (percentages) not add up? People like veterans qualify under the Veterans Affairs and another insurance plan (private or government – depending on their employment) and they double dip. Many people also have Medicare and some kind of private insurance on the side which are also counted twice. No one has kept accurate records in order to make our current system look as good as possible. If a true audit were to be done, we would probably find a higher number of people without insurance, more people who are underinsured and lots of double dipping, especially with government employees or people who are under some kind of government health plan.

People who are privately insured, where people pay out of pocket for their insurance, which may be split with their employer do not account for that many overall. Most people in the U.S. have some type of government insurance plan, where they government either pays all or part of their plan. Everyone under a government funded plan (Veterans, Medicaid, Medicare, and Government Employees) (taxpayer funded) can be considered under Socialized Medicine. The Socialized Medicine we have in the U.S. is not ever referred to as such because your elected officials don't want you to know it so you will never know just how good they have it and you don't!

One more very important thing: Many healthcare plans in the U.S. fall way short of any government plan, from Canada to Europe, because they only cover medical care, sometimes only very basic care, not including vision, dental, or counseling. Just looking at what a person pays toward healthcare, Canadians and Europeans pay far, far less and usually no or little out of pocket expenses. In the U.S. we are charged extra for so many things, especially deductibles, prescriptions, vision, dental and counseling. Looking at everything equally, people here in the U.S. pay about double, sometimes even triple, for their healthcare and get less, while everyone in Canada and Europe under a government plan enjoy much better care for less!
