Start Your Own Business on a Shoestring Budget
A little short on cash? And you are looking for a way to supplemental your income? Need to feel a little more in control of your income? Many people search the Internet for a viable business they can start from home. Yet, too many people find only scams and promises unfulfilled.
There are plenty of websites charging money to teach you their secret. Don't be one of them, or if you already are, stick with me and the free information I share on this site that's just as good, and if you allow me to boast – better (it's free!).
For people contemplating a home business, a low-cost solution is necessary for many because they just don't have deep pockets, money to spare. People want to maintain their current job to have some income to keep up with the bills while starting their own business.
Many people take a cautious approach to starting a business of their own. Keeping your day (or night) job, you can maintain your income while building a business of your own. Fortunately for you, a number of home based businesses can be started on a shoestring budget.
What follows are just a few ideas of the many possibilities. Be sure to check out the rest on my site and if you don't see a business you like listed today, come back in a week, or request I write about an idea. Now, allow me to introduce you to some business ideas you can start with very little money:
A Crafts Business
Crafts are always good seller. Look at country fairs, gift shops, flee markets, swap meets, or other outdoor markets. Making your own crafts to sell can bring in a tidy profit. Some ideas: knitted scarves or hats and gloves, soap, candles, jewelry, among others.
Virtual Office Assistant
Do you have skills in: word processing, bookkeeping, data entry, proofreading, transcription, editing, or maintaining a newsletter? Offer your skills for hire through your local newspaper or online. It will surprise you at the number of offers for your services you will get from one little ad.
AVON or Mary Kay Representative
Avon has been around since 1886 when David H. McConnell started the California Perfume Company which changed its name to Avon Products Inc. in 1937. Mary Kay Ash founded the company which bears her name in 1963, after having worked in direct selling for other companies since the 1930s. Mary Kay allowed women to sell her products and keep a percentage for themselves.
Both companies have had very successful sales people who had buyers calling or knocking at their door wanting to order products. Once you are established as a representative, you too, can make a good income.
Auction Websites
Auctions can be an excellent source for an income. I worked with people who would tell me how they sold all their unused stuff for a nice income. You can also buy from government and Internet auctions which, with a little work, can be turned into an excellent income. Auctions are an excellent place for both acquiring and selling whatever you want.
Sell Information
Selling information over the Internet or by mail is a good example of an inexpensive business to start up. On the Internet you can buy inexpensively information with full resale rights, then rewrite them and sell them. Some costs you will need to look into are: printing, paper, envelopes, postage and other office supplies or hosting a website of your own. The Internet has plenty of free classified ad sites for you to advertise on, or create a website to sell your works.
Final Note
While searching for the ideal home based business, do not get caught up in scams that run off with your money (read my other articles on scams). Thousands of scammers are waiting for you. If it sounds too good to be true, or like a dream come true, it is. Use good judgment and invest wisely in proven methods of earning an extra income. Invest in yourself, not someone else's who is trying to take your money.
